Early Life
Annelies Marie Frank was born on June 12th 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. She had an older sister Margot. Her mother's name was Edith Frank and her father Otto Frank was a lieutenant in the German army in World War I. Anne's family was an average, upper middle class, liberal, Jewish family who lived in a religiously diverse neighborhood on the outskirts Frankfurt.
Moving to Amsterdam
In the fall of !933, The Frank's moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands because life under the Nazi control became an unbearable living condition. Anne and Margot stayed with their Grandma in Aachen, while Otto and Edith went to Amsterdam a year before. In February, 1934, Margot and Anne rejoined with their family once again. Life was easy and going well until Germany invaded Holland in September, 1941.
School
In 1934, Anne attended Amsterdam's Sixth Montessori School. Anne was a great student and had a passion for reading and writing. She fit in well and had a lot of friends. But, once the Nazi's began to take control, laws were enforced that made her switch schools. She attended Jewish Lyceum.
